The Bluegrass Tae Kwon Do Association
Master Gary W. Brewer Sr. has 30 plus years
promoting, practicing, perfecting, instructing, and competing in Tae Kwon Do and
the Martial Arts industry. He is well known in the field of Martial Arts as a
Self Defense Specialist. He began his training in the mid seventies with Korean
instructor, friend, and mentor-Grandmaster Kwan Sung Lee. It was during these
years Master Brewer honed his skills. Sometimes staying at the Dojang all day
and night during the summers while school was out. It was during this time that
he became known for his dramatic board breaking skills.
Master Brewer was a force to be reckoned with on the tournament
scene. He has been very instrumental in the education and instructing of many
law enforcement officers in the benefits of TKD self defense tactics. Well
versed in many styles of Martial Arts Master Brewer has developed a more rounded
out art form of Self Defense, but Tae Kwon Do (literally translated means the
art of the hand & foot fighting) is at the forefront of his instruction.
Master Brewer has also introduced TKD into the local public
school systems with his satellite program’s and it has proven to be a positive
influence with the children and teachers alike. He has gained considerable
recognition as a Master Instructor and a Community Leader. He holds a National
Referee/Judge status with USA TKD (the Official Olympic Movement). Master Brewer
is the Author of two self defense instructional videos/DVDs - “Got Self Defense”
volumes 1 and 2. In 1999 he founded “Bluegrass TKD Association”, it is the only
Kentucky based TKD Association. He directs and co-directs local and state
tournaments in Louisville and the surrounding areas. He also hosts an Annual TKD
Tournament known as “The Bluegrass Rumble” each Winter which involves
competitors from several States.
Master Brewer has been featured in many newspaper articles and
Martial Arts and Fitness magazines through the years. He has a deep love and
respect for traditional Martial Arts but is willing to put his own personal
stamp on his instruction. In doing so he passes on his years of experience to
his devoted students.
